How Jesus Christ Changed My Life

My Testimony

Introduction

Hello everyone. If you are reading this, you may be searching for the truth, or asking yourself whether rocks become gods after they are painted and carved into a certain shape. I was in the same place.

Before continuing, let me introduce myself. My name is Aman Khanduja. I was born a Hindu, or rather, I was taught by my elders to be an idol worshiper.

Childhood

I was born in Haryana, India, and our house stood in front of a temple of idols. Seeing everyone go there and bow down to the rocks made me do the same, because I was doing what I was being taught. But going to the temple never made me realize that I was a sinner who sinned every day. I believed that going to the temple was a good work that would erase my bad works.

My childhood was filled with trauma, disease, and the struggles of my family. Twice in my childhood I was close to death. Praise God, He saved me and gave me life, so that I could live to see the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Seeking in the Wrong Places

When my life became a little better in my late teens, there was an urge in me to seek God. But in my sin, all I knew was to worship the idols more and more.

Later, I came to Canada for further studies. At one point I became hopeless, depressed, and empty inside. I thought it was all because of my financial struggles and lack of money, so I decided to do whatever I could to become rich, believing money would fulfill my soul. I was wrong. It only led to more hopelessness and the falseness of this world’s riches, and it deadened my conscience. I was committing fornication and adultery, thinking it was all normal and even good. How wrong I was.

Coming to Christ

Seeing my situation, my brother asked me to read the Bible. As a book lover, I agreed, not knowing it was the beginning of the biggest change of my life.

The first time I read the Holy Bible, I started with the book of Proverbs, and I was amazed by the wisdom of the Word of God. It made me want to read the Bible from the beginning. As Hebrews 4:12 says, the Word of God pierced through my soul and spirit, and it made me seek the true God, the Creator of heaven and earth. The more I read, the more tender my heart became.

After a couple of months, I decided to go to church for the first time. By the second visit, the presence of the Holy Spirit filled me. I repented of my sins and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. That was the moment my life changed. I felt alive, risen from the deadness of my sins.

A New Life in Christ

After being baptized and praying to the true God, I began to realize how terrible it is that humans worship rocks and idols and call them gods. There is only one God, the Creator of heaven and earth.

My conversion was not from Hinduism to Christianity, but from death to life. It was a conversion from dead idols to the living God.

I cannot put into words the peace that Christ has given me, just as He promised in John 14:27. This peace has overcome my anxiety, my depression, my love for money, and even my love for this world.

My Invitation to You

My brothers and sisters who are bowing down to rocks, idols, cows, animals, and other things: in your ignorance, you are committing a great sin. I invite you to come to the Cross, to Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, the only true God, the God of the living and not of the dead (Matthew 22:32). Come to Christ, who listens to you, who loves you, and who took the burden of all humanity upon Himself so that we can live and not die.

Throw away your idols, your rocks, and your graven images, and worship God in spirit and in truth, as John 4:23 says.

This is my testimony.
